Most of us like to take people at their word and we might be more trusting than we should. Then again, if you don’t trust people, you won’t get taken by them.

In the joke we have for you today, a young man was getting a little concerned because a woman was following him around the store. When she revealed her intentions, he thought it was perfectly harmless.

What happened next is not only funny, it’s also a lesson that all of us can learn. Enjoy the joke.

A young fellow shopping in a store saw a little old woman following him.

Anytime he would stop, she would stop. Besides, she continued to stare at him. She caught up to him at the checkout and said:

“I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable; it’s simply that you look so much like my late child.”

He replied, “That is not a problem.”

“I know it’s silly, but would you mind saying, ‘Farewell, Mother’ as I leave the store? It would bean so much to me.”

She then went through the checkout and as she was leaving the store, the man called out, “Farewell Mother!”

The little old woman waved and grinned back at him.

Satisfied that he had brought a little daylight into somebody’s day, he went to pay for his food.

“That comes to $121.85.” said the clerk.

“Why so much? I just purchased 5 things.”

The clerk answered, “That’s true, however your mom said you’d be paying for her things as well.”
