Enraged âWheel of Fortuneâ viewers are demonstrating because they think contestant Megan was unfairly denied $40,000 for what may have been the right answer.
Megan, a married choir director at a California high school, was faced with a bonus challenge that required her to figure out two words that fit the description of a âliving thing.â
When Megan was guided to the puzzle board by presenter Pat Sajak while the wheel was spinning, the partial sentence â_ NâR _ _ _â became apparent.
Megan carefully selected the letters to write âP_N_â RC_Dâ on the board.
Megan revealed her guess in the last ten seconds, which was either âPink Orchidâ or maybe âSomething Orchid.â
As soon as the timer sounded and the proper letters appeared on the monitor, Megan loudly expressed her dissatisfaction with the correct response, âPink Orchid.â
Sajak took out the prize estimate card, suspecting Megan could be correct, and gave her a healthy $40,000âmuch more than the $14,007 she received. Observing from the comfort of their homerooms, fans were inconsolable with Meganâs response, which they saw to be unfairly wrong, and many took their frustrations out on Wheel of Fortune.âThe woman got screwed on the Wheel of Fortune bonus puzzle tonight; she said âPINK ORCHIDâ right at the start,â a fan complained.
As soon as she said that, I asked the judges questions! I have limited hearing in one ear and am deaf in the other; therefore, I lip-read and utilize subtitles. âPink Orchid,â as she nicknamed me, without a doubt,â retorted one of her admirers.
âIâm blowing up!â She responded, âPink orchid,â understanding! âWTF?â said a third person. Hello, Fortune Wheel! I heard the rival say âpink orchidâ at the start of the problem, so I unwound the last one. A displeased spectator said, âYou owe her some money.â
Okay, @WheelofFortune. If you rewind to tonightâs show to figure out the last riddle from the most recent showing, you might be able to hear her say, âPink orchid.â You did not give the winner proper recognition. Now play it again. Thatâs what she said! bright orchid.
In the wake of the controversy, Wheel of Fortune viewers have been criticizing the show more and more for what seem to be mistakes, such as a recent debate over a rhyme during an Express round. When the show seemed to fumble over a response in the âRhyme Timeâ category on January 22, the audience erupted.
The current comedy was stumping two of the contenders, but Jill, the third one, figured it out by guessing two âyâs,â which resulted in the rhyme âAbsolutely Positively.â
The decision was strongly contested by supporters, who maintained that âabsolutely positivelyâ is not a rhyme.
âHey, @WheelofFortune,â a viewer commented. âCould you please clarify how these two words rhyme?â Since they most certainly donât.
